Volunteer Tree Guardians on Stephens Road 7th June 2026

Help Look After Hollingdean’s Fruit Trees

Join us for a couple of hours of weeding and help care for our community fruit trees. Meet at 10am at The Shed, on the corner of Brentwood Road and Lynchet Close.

Our trees help keep our streets cooler, see more information here, they provide habitats for wildlife, and make our neighbourhood greener and healthier. We are incredibly fortunate to have these shared green spaces, so let’s look after them together.

Tree Guardians on Stephens Road this June 2026

On 7th June, nine volunteers visited Stephens Road to weed around the fruit and nut trees and sow seeds. Our youngest volunteer even helped by litter-picking around the area. New protective wire cages were installed around Walnut Tree 203 and Plum Tree 204. We also weeded around trees 206, 207, and 212–217, and planted seeds nearby. If you live close by the newly planted seeds and any young fruit trees would greatly benefit from a little watering during dry periods.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered.

Volunteering takes just a couple of hours each month and brings plenty of health benefits, including fresh air, gentle exercise, meeting neighbours, and helping to make our community a greener place for everyone.

Donations to Growing Hollingdean are very much appreciated!
