Join Hollingdean’s Forest Gardeners on Sunday, 20th September 2026, 10am-12noon
Friendly gardening – everyone welcome

Hollingdean Park Orchard Forest Garden
Forest gardening is every 3rd Sunday of the month, from 10am to 12noon. Come along and help us grow food! Our Growing Hollingdean volunteers are always happy to welcome new people. We will meet you at The Shed (on the corner of Brentwood Road and Lynchet Close) at 10am, where you’ll be able to borrow gloves and equipment.
Join us for some light gardening, harvesting, and mulching. We will look at how the Forest Garden has done in the hot summer and talk about how to prepare for a hot summer next year, too!

What volunteers did on 16th August 2026
Our volunteers, plus a baby, met at the Lynchet Close shed, determined to water some key areas in the Forest Garden at the top of Hollingdean Park.
Thanks to the Family Hub, we had access to a tap and hose and it was a very successful watering session, concentrating on fruit bushes and any young trees such as the cherry plums just outside the Family Hub.
We pruned unwanted tree suckers and laid them round nearby trees, sampled some fruits of the Elaeagnus umbellata Autumn Olive, litter picked, had snacks, saved an elephant garlic bulb for replanting later in the year and even had time for some planning. The new table is great for rest, rehydration, conversation and ideas. And we always find time to sit and chat!
