What Tree Guardians did on Sunday 1st March 2026
What a great Tree Guardian morning on Sunday 1st March 2026. Volunteers walked down to Tavistock Down area to prune the pip fruit trees around there, see our tree map. We’ve also identified where stakes need replacing for next month.
Lots of litter picking in Tavistock Down
Our young volunteers kindly litter picked as we pruned the trees around Tavistock Down. We are aware that certain jobs like pruning are a little less exciting for our younger volunteers, particularly in the cold and wet, we were very impressed with the three young helpers today. Making our green spaces look beautiful.
New picnic table at Hollingdean Community Orchard & Forest Garden
Five Growing Hollingdean volunteers built the new picnic table after our Tree Guardian morning. It’s a very heavy bench made from recycled plastic, half paid for by donations (see here) from locals and money our volunteers raised through grants and our plant fair. Thank you to everyone who is involved. Please, go up to the Hollingdean Park Orchard and enjoy a sit down or even a great place for lunch.
