Thompson Road, Hollingdean, Brighton
The Hollingdean Development Trust Trustees and Shirley, the Centre Manager were keen to ‘make our community centre beautiful’ and asked us for help! We were successful in accessing Healthy Neighbourhood Funding and using a permaculture design process (part of a diploma project) we have worked with the local community to install two raised beds in the back yard with herbs, fruit and vegetables. The front beds are a mix of ‘No Dig’, raised and hanging baskets, mainly growing low maintenance perennial flowers for pollinators. It is currently supported by four local people who use the centre regularly.
